P.A.L. Season 2: Post-Round 5 Power Rankings

There are now only 2 rounds left in P.A.L. Season 2, and things are really staring to come together. For the first time this season, we are seeing Amiibo begin to lock in playoff spots, or worse, lock themselves into relegation (be sure to check the standings). I really appreciate all of the support you guys gave to the first power rankings, so keep your eye out for more next season.

The following rankings only represent how I (BurrPlaysGames) view the strength of the different Amiibo in P.A.L. Season 2. While there are certain things I base my rankings on (record, history, strength of character to name a few), at the end of the day, these are entirely subjective. All of the Amiibo are incredibly strong this season, and I found ranking the Amiibo between 10-24 to be incredibly difficult.

You’ll see brief write-ups for my opinions on the top 10 Amiibo, but I’m just one person, so that is all I have for now (every Amiibo is ranked, only the top 10 have write-ups, except for some special exceptions). If you want to know more, you can find me on The Splice Stream Discord, or you can contact me on Twitter. Finally, remember to catch P.A.L. live Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 PM Eastern Time!

1:

The King remains on top his throne heading into the final week of Season 2. Not only does Mr. Mallet remain undefeated through 5 rounds, he also took a set off Cadbury, the ONLY Amiibo to take a P.A.L. set off Mr. Mallet.  At this rate, a repeat championship may just be the expected outcome of this season.

2:

Up 2 spots from the end of Round 2, Super NES is the only Amiibo left in the League to not drop a single game, and nothing has been particularly close. The dominating style of Cloud and Super NES continues to roll through the league, but its possible that they’ll get knocked down a peg by another powerful Amiibo from the N64 division…

3:

Statistically speaking, only Super NES has a better record than Tough Claw, and no Amiibo has a better stock differential than Tough Claw has. The only thing keeping Tough Claw from perfection. 1 Game lose to Dark Elf. Super NES vs Tough Claw is the matchup to watch in the final week of the season.

4:

It is a tight race to the top of this Season’s Power rankings, and Dr. Amigo blinked. Game losses to Leaf and Lucina may not look like much but compared to the Titan’s sitting above Dr. Amigo on this list, that crack in the armor means a whole lot.

5:

The final undefeated Amiibo, Brighteyes patented “Little Brother” style has served them well. However, Brighteyes hasn’t won a single game 2-0, and 3 of Brighteyes sets came down to a single stock. Brighteyes is also the only undefeated Amiibo to not have a playoff spot locked in. However, anyone who didn’t believe in Brighteyes is no doubt silenced by now.

6:

Smitty’s legendary Plant has proven itself well this season. One question remains: Can Plant beat a Link? Setabos (Smitty’s Piranha Plant last season) was career 0-1 vs Links, while Plant has yet to face one. Plant’s remaining matches? 2 Links. A late season slide is not impossible.

7:

I admit it, I’m a sucker for this fabulous Falcon, but so far, SYGTGFIA has not disappointed. Losses to Dr.Amigo and Plant are still losses, but expectable ones. MiDe’s biggest weakness? 3 bloodthirsty Amiibo gunning to unseat SYGTGFIA from his spot in the Wii Division.

8:

One of the few new Amiibo in the top 10, Lynx took their Round 2 loss in stride, and has rattled off 3 more very solid wins. However, Lynx has yet to face Mr. Mallet, his division’s behemoth, and there are 4 Amiibo very hungry to unseat Lynx for their seeding.

9:

Bahamut has thrown together 3 strong wins in a row catapulting himself up both the Power Rankings, as well as the standings. Bahamut’s remaining schedule is… interesting to say the least. Crazy12Eric is an Amiibo with a bad record on the rise, and RC is an Amiibo with a good record on the decline.

10:

He should have gone for the head. Losing to Mr. Mallet hurts Jester, both in standings and in reputation. However, Jester still has a strong shot at the Playoffs, and is the premier Yoshi of P.A.L.

I’m allowed to be just a bit high on myself… right?

16:

When I made this list after Round 4, RC was 6th, as a loss to Brighteyes is a reasonable outcome. The loss to ShulkHogan is much harder to forgive. For Glory! needs to pull themselves out of this slide, and fast.
